of Freshwater Jellyfish |

August 17, 2006
Once again, Freshwater Jellyfish have been reported
at Sylvia Lake. This summer, by Linda Scott and her grandkids.
While on the paddleboat this afternoon, her grandson Madison McIntosh
spotted a jellyfish. His friends, Zachary Amberg and Max Tyler
dove in and caught quite a few of the tiny creatures.
The freshwater "jellyfish" is not a true
jellyfish as are some of its marine relatives. Freshwater "jellyfish" differ
slightly from the true marine jellyfish. Craspedacusta sowerbii
(kras-ped-uh-kus-tuh) is the scientific name of this freshwater "jellyfish"
